whats the purpose of opening you door during an earthquake? some safety reasons im guessing?

How frequent are earthquakes in Japan? This feels like the third one I’m hearing about in 3 months!

Isnt it dangerous to hide below desks? If my roof fell. It would break both my desk and my head and i would have to support the weight of the roof and the desk. Isnt it safer to hide in a corner where is less likely for the roof to fall? Even if a wall would fall the corners would still stand

I dont want to sound horrible, I would not wish for natural disasters to happen to anyone at anytime, but I think its safe to say that Japan is """"'lucky"""" to be at the same time the place where big earthquakes happens while also being one of the few countries on earth with the proper socioeconomic development to mitigate its effects as much as posible as well as rebuild. Imagine that happening in poor country with people close to no money living in non sturdy wood and zinc housws and a lack of general goverment funding for education over how to act in such a scenario,as well as a lack of money to rebuild the country afterwards. It would be even more cathastrophic. After the 2011 Tsunami, it took them around 3 years to rebuild things back to normal, in my countrt it would probably take a decade, with luck.

Is that a thing you're supposed to do? I never have earthquakes in any of the places I've lived so I'm not really familiar.

Out of curiosity, you have to open doors during an earthquake to make sure you have a clear, unobstructed safe escape route if needed, if if you are somehow trapped, rescuers would have an easier time getting to you, right?

So they are all streaming in the same studio?

If what I've read is true, they have frequent earthquake drills in JP, even from childhood, to train for this scenario.

Very few people panic or misbehave during these incidents. That said, I'm glad none of the girls was injured or lost and hope that the JP bros are all safe.
