There's a few reasons, imo, Pokimane becoming a Vtuber doesn't work besides whatever attitude she has and the like…..And that is she's already been streaming with her real face. There is no illusion. She's just playing herself in anime-form. Most Vtubers tend to play up a character when they stream. Gura being a shark-girl who tends to now understand some dry-land lingo. Kiara being a ditsy phoenix with a literal infatuation with death. Calliope, said death, a reaping rapper and a rapping reaper. And on the JP side, Korone, excitable doggo girl. Okayu, smug cat girl and ladykiller. Coco, Asacoco dealing Yakuza dragon girl.

There's also the fact that most of Hololive's, and other companies', Vtuber have other skills than playing video games. Number 1 being charisma. A lot of them also can sing. Some of them can draw. They're meant to be virtual idols, not just gamers.

imo pokimane having a vtuber avatar doesn't really matter. she can do whatever she wants. Either she flies or crashes and burns doesn't really matter. This action of hers just makes vtubing get more attention and thats a good thing. What I don't get is that why do people get mad over some people debuting on having a vtuber avatar and attacking them. it just makes the vtuber community look bad especially the comments I've read so far here. people saying pokimane's fans are toxic and it just so happens people commenting here are just as toxic based on the comments I've read here so far. its just disappointing being a part of this community having people gatekeep people that just want to be vtubers like them.
